What I didn’t anticipate was that the garage and bottom level of the condo we moved to would essentially become our glorified, albeit expensive storage unit. Trying to cram what was inside our home into three smaller levels was a challenge, especially with all the toys we have accumulated in the few short years since bringing my son Camden home. I literally can’t wait to purge and donate a lot of the items and clean some off and regift for my sons 2nd birthday (haha!), but until the house is done and we are ready to move back in, I will be adding to our collection. All for the sake of learning.

Since we are still in the midst of a huge home remodel and needed to move out a few months before Bowynn; my daughter was born in April, I knew I would be living in a slightly smaller space temporarily.

When I saw my sons knowledge for things really start to sprout, I knew I needed something that captured his attention, and was something new and innovative. He does love to read, but his brain is just growing so fast that he constantly needs stimulation. He has his dads photographic memory (more on that in a later post if you want) and I have been trying to find a toy that has the option to change, so it’s not just something he can memorize and move on.

Enter the Code-a-pillar from Fisher PriceFrom the moment we opened the box he was super in to it. The assembly was easy, and batteries were already included. We all sat on the floor learning initially the basics of how it works, and once the thing starting moving, he screeched with excitement and had a huge smile on is face. It was abut 30 minutes later and he was taking the pieces apart and putting them back in different configurations. That is easily Camden’s favorite feature. It is helping with his motor skills and I think he really feels independent and proud when he unhooks and reconnects the pieces to make a new code. He even got his friends in on the fun.

This toy’s technology is pretty endless. The colors and the sounds are fun for this age and he is now super into caterpillars. The one link he really loves in the sequence is the purple piece, because it means he can have a dance break in between the codeapillar changing directions. It is something I love to do with him!

I would recommend this product if you are wanting to find a toy that really expands on what your child may already know such as colors etc., but has the ability to change the experience as your child grows. If you are a parent that does not like colorful, noisy, and electronic toys then it might not be for you.
